Discotronic Collection features artists including Deadmau5
The more observant of you might have figured this out from our Facebook posts etc, but if you didn’t know yet we’ve just announced a big new range featuring Joystick Junkies vs Deadmau5, Calvin Harris and The Japanese Popstars with more to come. Rather than repeat myself here’s the press release below, and of course you can buy the new designs on both European and US webstores – just click on the flags above.
Here’s a pic from our shoot over at EMI’s HQ in London, thanks to models & friends (left to right) Oscar, Karim, Jez, Kuljheet & Umi!
Joystick Junkies, the British street wear fashion brand today announced a global partnership with music giant EMI’s new apparel division to collaborate with a range of major electronic music artists.
The DISCOTRONIC collection features ‘Joystick Junkies versus’ designs that bring the brand’s unique graphic handwriting to the artwork of the greatest names in electronic music. “Many of these artists owe their heritage to the same digital culture that inspires Joystick Junkies, often creating their first tracks on the Atari or Amiga computers, the same machines used to create gaming’s classics.” Commented Chris Birch, Creative Director of Joystick Junkies.
The first DISCOTRONIC capsule collection launches with designs produced in collaboration with Deadmau5, Calvin Harris and The Japanese Popstars, with many more to be announced in 2011. “Deadmau5 was a perfect fit, his instinctive approach to tweaking technology to make the music he wants and his love for 8-bit graphics was a perfect fit for DISCOTRONIC”, commented Chris Birch.
Return of the Joystick Junkies 8-Bit Pendants!
I was visiting family near Coventry (I grew up in a little English town called Leamington Spa) and was lucky to get some passes for Deadmau5′s Coventry show on the UK leg of the tour. If you didn’t get to see any of the shows this year, seriously, you suck
Managed to hook up with Tommy Lee and Sofi (check out Tommy’s new act Methods of Mayhem) and of course Sofi is rocking the shows singing on the new Deadmau5 tune ‘Sofi Needs A Ladder’
Luckily I had a spare and final set of our 8-Bit pendants that have been so popular this summer so I gave them to Joel as I knew he’d appreciate their 8-Bit inspiration!
Finally we should have them back on the Joystick Junkies webstore in January – watch this space!
8-bit Inspired Stories from the Joystick Junkies
We invited a bunch of Joystick Junkies friends from around the world to post their 8-bit inspired experiences, quirky sightings or weird stuff from across the web in our Friends Blog. It’s on the topic of 8-bit or digital pop culture, generally the stuff around video games but not really ‘about’ video games (let’s face it there’s plenty of sites that do that very well).
They’ve gone mad posting some cool stuff and we think you’ll love it, so have a look and leave some comments & ‘Likes’ to encourage them!
Congratulations to our Joystick Junkette!
Funny how you can meet someone one night in green glitter body paint and the next thing you know they’re one of your most awesome friends. We just wanted to send our big love and congratulations to the most fabulous of the Joystick Junkies, Claire Charlie Alexander, who just got hitched in Bali – yep boys missed your chance!
And yes Claire we do expect a repeat performance in Europe!
Joystick Junkies vs Deadmau5 T-shirt!
Joystick Junkies 1UP Deadmau5 t-shirt is available as part of Deadmau5′s special DJ Hero bundles
You’ll be able to pick up different colourways and other Deadmau5 designs when our new Discotronic Collection launches in November.
And Now For Something Completely Different…
Welcome to the new Joystick Junkies site, please bear with us as we make tweaks! There’s been a lot of changes we’ve now got seperate stores in the USA, Europe and UK which you can find by clicking on the flags above. The US store ships from sunny Chatsworth, California whilst the UK & Europe is now shipping from Leicester, UK and you can buy in Dollars or Euro’s for the first time!
We’ve got so much going on in Facebook, Youtube etc so we figured we might as well let you see all of that in one place, so you’ll find feeds from our Facebook fan page, our YouTube lists (Junkies TV is stuff we’ve shot, Junkies Music is music we like), Twitter and Flikr galleries. A lot a lot of people will be posting thoughts and sightings in the Friend’s section of the Blog so keep an eye out for their musings. If you think you’ve got something interesting to say please message us through the comments page.
There’s a ton of launches this year to watch out for – a big accessories range (including bags, wallets and belts), mobile & gaming accessories, a range of tees called Discotronic which features some big name electronic music artists artwork, and loads more. Don’t forget to sign up for our Facebook, Youtube or Twitter pages or join us at one of infamous parties in the coming months

8-bit invasion of New York captured by director Patrick Jean!
Gotta love the these real life 8-bit invasions. Just like Royksopp’s use of super real 8-bit invaders in their video Happy Up Here direct Patrick Jean has created an even more incredible 8-bit pop culture invasion. Capturing an 8-bit attack on New York Patrick draws on world famous icons in his climatic encounter with the big apple for his new film PIXEL and we love it! Produced by French production team One More Production it’s a great addition to their growing portfolio.
